This project is carried out for Naasten in Beeld, an organisation that supports care givers and families of which one member is chronically ill. The project's brief was to create a tool that would enable the partners to talk about the effect of the disease. Together with my team Sieb Posthuma (Strategic Designer), and Karin Tetteroo (Interaction Designer) we created the talking package for partners which composes of a card set and an exercise set. During the project, I took place in research analysis and concept development phases; furthermore I was responsible for the visual design of the whole project (research booklets, website, card set and exercise set)
The project took 10 weeks; it was supervised and funded by Muzus

Usability testing
We conducted contextmapping (sensitising booklets & face-to-face interviews) with 3 partners in order to understand their current way of dealing with the chronic illness, concerns and wishes in general regarding their romantic relationship. Based on the insights we generated we created talking package and tested it with 3 other couples based on think aloud principles.
2. Design

The first bit of the design composes of eight cards that elicit thinking and speaking around the topics like support, acceptation, humour, intimacy etc. The front part of the cards briefly explain what the card is about and on the back side there are some example quotes as a reference which are intended to guide users. Those quotes were generated from the interview sessions.

The second part of the final design is an exercise set which composes of small tasks that are around the same themes. Partners are guided to complete the exercises together by asking each other questions. We designed the exercise set to enable both parties getting things out from their chests and seeing them concretely on the paper.
